Emergency Medical Services

Waldwick Volunteer Ambulance Corps (WALVAC) is an independent, non-profit corporation dedicated to providing emergency medical services (EMS) to the Borough of Waldwick, New Jersey and surrounding communities since 1951. We were founded by the American Legion Post 57. Since our founding in 1951, all of our services are provided free of charge.

WALVAC provides emergency medical services to the Borough of Waldwick and its neighboring towns through mutual aid.

We are staffed 100% by volunteers!

Ambulatory Aid Loan Service

WALVAC maintains an inventory of ambulatory aids such as wheelchairs, walkers, canes, and crutches which are available  free of charge to the residents of Waldwick.

If you have any of the above items in gently used condition and  you wish to donate them to another resident, please contact us at the phone number listed below to coordinate a drop-off at our building.

For health reasons, we do not accept donations of commodes, shower chairs, hospital beds or any items that may come in contact with body fluids.

Please do not leave items outside the Ambulance Corps Building without authorization.

Community Event Stand-By

WALVAC also responds to various non-emergent requests such as stand-by for community events such as:

  • Memorial Day Parade
  • Annual 5K Run
  • Annual Car Show
  • Lions Club Family Days Carnival
  • High School Varsity Football Games
  • Ragamuffin Parade and Trunk-or-Treat
  • Allendale and Wyckoff Fireworks
  • and more

WALVAC provides public education to the community through events like Touch a Truck, Junior Police Academy, and CPR training to our residents and local First Responders.
